TMJ therapy

TMJ (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction) affects 1 in 3 people in one form or another so although not many people may have heard of it, it effects heaps of us at one point or another! Developed by Tracey Kiernan in 2000, when she combined her extensive experience of working with TMJ patients, almost 20 years as a dental professional, with her training as a massage therapist together to create this amazingly effective therapy.

The treatments varies dependant on your symptoms , but is mainly concentrated around the head, neck and shoulders, and is a combination of massage, trigger point work, myofacial release, and can include intra oral work .

What causes tmj syndrome? Like most things, just life and imbalances in the body which become magnified over time if not corrected. But activities and life changes like prolonged dental work, head/neck injuries, playing a musical instrument or working at a computer , trauma, an improper bite, arthritis or wear and tear can have an effect.
